Wind,oh風よ2026
Wind,oh is based on the idea of a wind chime, but taken to a global scale. Using weather API data you can generate ambient soundscapes based on the wind conditions in different cities around the globe. Wind,oh was inspired by St. GIGA, shortwave radio, and a wind chime my daughter made in class.

Tiding潮よ2026
Tiding is Wind,oh’s sibling, and inspired directly by how the programming of St. GIGA was influenced by natural rhythms like the tides. It is more meditative and steady than Wind,oh, sort of like the sonic equivalent of a scented candle.

CAbout
Ochre is a loose series of design explorations focused on the natural world, science, and technology.
The name comes from red ochre, which has been used by humans and our ancestors for over 300,000 years to render observations and imaginings about the world around them.
Humans have always used tools and technology to explore their world and make visible their thoughts and dreams. I’m captivated and inspired by the different ways that patient, careful observation of nature and the focused expression of its significance to the observer have manifested throughout the history of art, craft, and science. These explorations are inspired by that history.
